Suraj Vithlani is a versatile architect who over last fifteen years has executed a multitude of projects. Suraj has an intuitive grasp of spatial and architectural potential of buildings and has the skills to maximise their commercial value. He has an innate sense for structural behaviour of materials. He designs both from an aesthetic and a practical viewpoint. He favours simple contermporary designs that express clarity of form and structure. Both in his own practice and through work for other firms, Suraj has gained extensive experience on projects of all sizes. He has worked on private homes, developer flats, retaurants, retail projects, office buildings and train stations with budgets varying from £100,000 to £400M. Before starting motion Architecture, Suraj worked at Alsop Architects, Skidmore Owings & Merrill and TP Bennett. His projects have included 7 new flats in Guildford; 4 new flats in SW London; 9 new flats in Kingston upon thames; New Contemporary family homes in Guildford, Haslemere, and Aulton. He has worked on the Thames Link 2000 Blackfriars and London Bridge Stations masterplans and detailed design. He was involved in detailed design of a striking 11 storey modern office building in the City of London, and a 90,000sq.ft. mixed use development on Tottenham Court Road incorporating a Sainsburys, the Hakkassan restaurant and nine duplex apartments. Suraj Vithlani is a member of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and ARB (Architects Registration Board). Suraj used to be a semi-professional moto-cross racer in India; he achieved podium finish in his first two races and was ranked no.4 in the country in 1989/90. His moto-cross career ended when he began architectural education in London. These days in his spare time Suraj likes to play Cricket and travel.
